Living on the Beautiful Island of Captiva
Captiva has a lot of features similar to Sanibel. The beaches, sunsets, shelling, and small-town feel are the island’s biggest draws. The beach looks like a postcard with its white fluffy sand and sparkling turquoise and green water. If this isn’t paradise, we don’t know what is.
The main mode of transportation is by driving golf carts along Andy Rosse Lane—the village’s main thoroughfare.
Captiva Island is known for its restaurants and quaint shops. Most of them are easy to get to by golf cart, bike, or foot. You can visit the beach before or after a meal at one of the trendy restaurants as they're nearby the waves. Take a walk after dinner and enjoy the sunset. You’ll probably find some beautiful shells along the way.
Water activities are abundant on Captiva Island. You can rent kayaks and canoes and opt for a tour or explore on your own. The island’s fishing is also excellent as the waters surrounding Captiva are teeming with fish. And if you really feel like going on an adventure, you can access other islands like Cayo Costa from Captiva. It’s reminiscent of what old Florida used to be.
